It was a true adventure!!!!

Hi gang,
Well my vacation started off with a bang and ended with one too!!
Flights got delayed but we got to the ship on time with no problems.

We made all 5 ports then our ship the Norwegian Dawn lost power, dead in the water for 4 hours straight. We didn't feel upset but man there sure were a lot of upset people. It was beyond our control. No air conditioning, no flushing toilets. We survived. We maintained our craziness.  We kept our positive attitude and stayed away from the atrium where people were freaking out and complaining. My vacation was not going to be ruined by strangers.

Out of the deal we got 75% off our cruise and 50% off our next cruise is we choose to go on one in 2010. We got an extra port in San Juan for one and half days. They flew us from
San Juan to Miami for free and a free nights stay at the Miami Hilton. Apparently the news was on CNN and Fox. One of the passengers was a reporter and was stirring up stuff. He dressed like the crew and went into places on the ship for the crew only.

We had a blast and the time went by way too fast. I did the zip lines...screamed the whole time too!! Did lots of dancing, swimming, walking and went to all the shows. I ate what I wanted and my clothes still fit. I am going to detox my body of sugar and carbs for the rest of the week.

Sounds like a wonderful time.  I'm like you, it's beyond your control, so make the best of it.  What's the big deal, 4 hours without power?  That's a typical winter day in Michigan, no power.  75% off too?  Wow, I hope that happens on my next cruise.  We're planning on going back to alaska in 2011 for our 35th wedding anniversary.  We went there on our 25th anniversary too.  Maybe we'll just have to make this a tradition, every 10 years cruise to Alaska.
You're going to have to go on a cruise in 2010 now, you can't afford not to. :)
Glad you had a great time!

Hi Jani,
That's what my hubby wants to do...go on an Alaska cruise. That sounds like fun!

It's the best I've ever been on, but that's because I never wanted to do anything in warm climates.

My Alaskan cruise was my "worker's comp, hurt my knee" cruise, and it was the best trip I've ever taken, bar none. Could never have afforded it if I didn't get the worker's comp money, but still ... it was a great two weeks (did a one-week cruise, one-week land tour). Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Debbiejean,

It sounds like you had a blast, as well as making the best of a situation, that while not pleasant, sure gave you a bunch of perks for a mere four hours of inconvenience. . .  I did a trip on the Norwegian cruise line a number of years back and loved it, while some of the "more seasoned" cruise folks complained about this and that, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.  It all goes back to the attitude you bring to the party and how you can make the best out of a bad situation. . .  anyway, I hope another cruise is in the not too distant future of mine. . .

Hugs, Laureen

Wow frankly i would sign up for 4 hours of no power considering all they did to make it right.  A great trip, for less money, and a deal on the next one.  Who can complain?  Glad you enjoyed!!!

I'm also glad to hear you liked zip lining..i want to do that this summer.  I'm sure i will be screaming at the top of my lungs too. LOL

The zip lines were a blast. I'm not too crazy on heights but it's safe and screaming is fun in itself, really releases a lot of tension!!!

Really nothing to complain about on my trip, we had fun and the power outage was really no big deal. Get hot...just go jump in the pool.
